Traditional Entrance Glass Lettering for a Period Residence
Traditional reverse glass entrance lettering completed for a late Victorian residence in Ealing.
The original transom glass lettering had deteriorated over time and was carefully removed before being recreated by hand, preserving the character and proportions of the property’s entrance.
Project Brief
The commission required the original house name and property numbering to be faithfully reproduced rather than redesigned.
Following careful cleaning of the glass, a full-size paper pattern was used to transfer the approved artwork before the lettering was hand painted onto the reverse of the transom glass.
Traditional Reverse Glass Signwriting
The lettering was completed using specialist oil-based signwriting enamels in a traditional ivory finish with a hand painted cast shadow to provide subtle depth and definition.
Each letter was then protected with a clear reverse varnish to ensure long-term durability while preserving the appearance of the original entrance lettering.
