Reverse Glass Lettering & Hand Painted Entrance Pillar Numbers

Reverse glass lettering and hand painted entrance pillar numbers were completed for the London offices of AIFS within a converted period townhouse in South Kensington SW7.

Entrance pillar numbers and reverse glass lettering completed together.

Commissioned by the building contractor as part of a wider programme of refurbishment works, the project formed one of the final stages of the entrance refurbishment, providing a traditional and durable finish to the completed building.

The existing vinyl lettering within the transom window was removed before new hand painted glass lettering was applied using traditional signwriting techniques.

At the same time, the entrance pillar numbers were individually set out and painted directly onto the rendered masonry, creating a balanced and sympathetic appearance across the entrance.

Traditional Reverse Glass Lettering

Working from full-size artwork prepared in advance, the transom window lettering was painted by hand on the reverse side of the glass.

This traditional method protects the painted finish while producing crisp, long-lasting lettering suitable for period buildings, offices and refurbishment projects undertaken by building contractors and decorating contractors.

Hand Painted Entrance Pillar Numbers

Each numeral was carefully measured, balanced and painted directly onto the rendered entrance pillars using traditional signwriting methods.

Working alongside the building contractor ensured the numbering formed part of the completed refurbishment works, complementing the restored entrance and surrounding decoration.

Completed during the final stages of the refurbishment programme, the finished lettering and entrance numbering provide clear property identification while respecting the character of this converted South Kensington townhouse.
