Architectural entrance pier numbering completed for a distinguished private residence on Albert Place, Kensington W8. The house number was hand painted directly onto a stippled rendered entrance pier using traditional signwriting techniques, creating refined architectural property identification sympathetic to the character of the building.

Project Brief

Commissioned by the building contractor and produced to an architect-approved specification, the number was painted at an exact 15cm height with its baseline precisely aligned to the neighbouring letterbox and positioned at a predetermined distance below the pier cap. Careful setting out ensured the finished work formed part of the overall architectural composition of the entrance.

Traditional Architectural Lettering

Painting directly onto textured rendered masonry requires careful brush control to achieve crisp, consistent lettering while maintaining a finish sympathetic to the surrounding architectural surfaces. A specialist matt signwriting finish was used to integrate naturally with the existing entrance pier.
