Large scale hand painted house numbers completed for a prestigious Belgravia residence using traditional exterior lettering and bespoke signwriting techniques. The numbering was painted directly onto the masonry façade in an enlarged version of the property’s original typeface to create a stronger architectural feature.

Project Brief
The client requested the original Roman serif numbering to be reproduced at a much larger scale to create a more prominent visual feature across the front façade. Initial visuals were prepared before revised sizing and positioning adjustments were refined on site to achieve the preferred balance between the entrance and surrounding architectural detailing.
Multiple paper templates were produced in varying sizes so the final layout could be assessed visually from street level before painting commenced.

Traditional Façade Signwriting
The numbers were painted entirely by hand using traditional signwriting brushes and specialist exterior paints selected for durability and edge definition. Particular attention was given to matching the character of the original lettering style while carefully adapting the proportions for the increased scale.
The completed numbering creates a bold architectural statement while remaining sympathetic to the period character and proportions typical of Belgravia properties.

Finished Exterior Numbering
The finished hand painted façade numbering provides a distinctive architectural feature that enhances the presentation and identity of the property while maintaining a refined and traditional appearance.
