Hand painted entrance pier numbers completed for a substantial stucco-fronted residential villa in SW10 London using traditional exterior lettering and specialist signwriting paints. The bespoke numbering was applied directly onto the rendered entrance piers to create a refined architectural feature sympathetic to the scale, form, and grandeur of the property.

Project Brief

The project involved repainting and refining the existing entrance numbering for an imposing white stucco London villa on Tregunter Road in SW10, close to Brompton and The Boltons. Set back from the street behind monumental rendered entrance piers crowned with classical pineapple finials, the property presented a highly formal architectural setting requiring a restrained and carefully balanced approach to the exterior numbering.

The previously applied numbers lacked both proportional balance and visual refinement in relation to the scale of the entrance architecture. The revised layout was therefore carefully redrawn and repositioned to improve spacing, edge definition, visual clarity, and overall architectural integration across the rendered piers.

The numbering was painted entirely by hand using traditional signwriting brushes and specialist exterior paints selected for durability, opacity, and crisp edge definition on rendered masonry surfaces.

Particular attention was given to spacing, alignment, stroke balance, and negative space to create a more composed and architecturally sympathetic finish suited to the formal Regency character of the property.

The refined typography and careful positioning allowed the numbering to sit naturally within the monumental entrance composition while remaining highly legible from the street.
