Property painting produced for a residence in Belgravia, West London by specialist sign writer Traditional Signs of London.

The property painting produced by Traditional Signs of London was the premises address on the front fascade stucco.

The numbers and wording were required in a fine serif typeface.

The brief from the client being the wording to be a traditional and fine roman serif with the numbers to be most noticable but ‘A’ to be set away from the numbers.

The scope of work is undertaken and this is instigated by ensuring the precise measurements of the areas in which the property sign writing is to be painted.

A digital visual is then offered for the clients to agree upon. At this point a revision of the layout or typeface can be made. This way both parties know precisely what is expected.

Some sign writers offer sketching & painting on site without the clients agreement, which can lead to the wrong typeface or placement of the signs or even a poor quality finish.

Traditional Signs of London believe that it is paramount that the property has the neatest most stylish but in keeping numbering painted on a residence of such high value.

With high value property painting precision and professional standards are key.

The artwork is then produced, using the measurements taken and going by the agreed visual. It is drawn and produced on paper, which is taken to site and used as a template to paint to.

A selection of slightly differing size layouts are produced, so the best suited can be chosen and used on site.

Property painting addresses on stucco can sometimes vary visually on site, compared to a digital visual. This can be due to surrounding items such as railings, lamps, topiary trees etc.

The artwork is then measured into place, ensured all is level . . . . generally by eye when it comes to less precise stucco, and then traced off or pounced to the wall.

This allows for the artwork to be seen and used as a guide for precise painting. A specialist sign writer quill brush with a chisel edge is used for the painting, applying skill and craftmanship into creating precise letters and numbers. The paint work is built up stroke by stroke, creating one letter at a time.

The client was having the sign writing produced to replace the faux frosted vinyl numbers applied to the entrance door windows.

As an additional gesture Traditional Signs of London kindly removed the less sightly vinyl from their windows without charge.
