Painted street name & number on a premises in West London. A sign writer is the ideal profession for this, as the sign writer has the skill level, knowledge of typeography & design. Property appearance is more imperative than ever before, with a property number being an essential part of that.
To ensure a quality high end look & production of a street address or house name to a property a sign writer should be the specialist to be called upon.
This property in Chelsea required both the property address & wording to show no parking infront of the residence at the request of the client.

The clients requested that the typeface be traditional and in keeping with the area, but also be matching on both the porch/portico roof lintle and on the roller shutter panel. This posed a slight question due to the size difference of the panels. So it was what sort of typeface would be suitable, as it could be that a typeface on one panel may appear to thin and on the other too thick & bold. So for this, it was a fairly consistant classic roman serif typeface that was produced.
To produce the signwriting in the ideal sizing, the roller shutter panel is measured, centre lines are marked & then the writing is drawn out accordingly. The sign writing is then produced using the skill & expertise a sign writer has in creating such neat writing.
So before the painted street name was produced on the portico/porch roof edge, the sign writing on the garage shutter box was produced.

The painted street name sign writing was produced in the same method as the garage signage. The centre points were measured & marked out, then the writing, which was produced on paper is ‘pounced’/reliefed onto the panel. For speed in production, some tape is added when marking out.

Skill & care is taken to create the typeface using brush strokes created with a specialist brush.
Its all about the finished product, rather than the process, but the skill level in producing the sign writing has to be considered.
