Property sign writing produced for a residence in Belgravia, West London by specialist sign writer Traditional Signs of London.
A property management company were looking to have fresh numbering at the residence, who had just renovated the facade with a full refresh.
The company were requested by their clients that they would like a number on the right hand side of the portico and also a matching typeface number within a roundel on the concrete portico path.
The scope of work is undertaken and this is instigated by ensuring the precise measurements of the areas in which the property sign writing is to be painted.
Then a visual is offered for the clients to agree upon.
This way both parties know precisely what is expected.
Some sign writers offer sketching & painting on site without the clients agreement, which can lead to the wrong typeface or placement of the signs or even a poor quality finish.
Traditional Signs of London believe that it is paramount that the property has the neatest most stylish but in keeping numbering painted on a residence of such high value.
Imagine how unprofessional it would look to have a sub standard property sign writing on such a high value residence.

The artwork was digitally produced using the measurements taken.
The clients were shown a pair of options for placement of the property sign writing which is intended for the flooring. They chose and were more than happy to proceed.
They initially requested this property sign writing after seeing the neighbouring residence with something similar.
Their numbers were actually produced it metal & sunken into the paving tile.
Once explained to the clients that this was the case, they still preferred the option of painting the numbers and roundel.

The neighbouring property numbers were of a quite unique typeface, which were also set within a single paving tile and therefore smaller in size.
The clients wished for a more imposing property sign writing for their residence.

The artwork is produced on paper in the form of a pounce pattern.
It is taken to site, where it is measured into the exact position for the property sign writing before it is then reliefed onto the flooring using chalk powder.
Then specialist brushes and paint are used to produce the property sign writing.
An oil based matte finish paint is used. Its difficult to neatly sign write using masonry paint, which would’ve been the preferred option for concrete slabs.
The surafce is very pourous and as a result there is no room for error, as it would be near impossible to remove from the tiles/slabs.

Great time and care is taken when producing this type of property sign writing, especially as there is no room for error.
Specialist sign writing brushes are used and it’s far from as simple as single stoke lettering.
Each number and also the roundel is built up with a series of strokes concentrating on a neat outlining before adding the fill.

.
The greatest of care is taken to get precise lines even with the unven surface, where there are cracks, groves and spaces between the concrete tiles. It was slightly troublesome where one of the tiles had a big dent & crack near the no.7, but as mentioned with care, skill & specialist equipment this was overcome.

The other property sign writing to be produced is on the square portico pillar.
This process is the same as the floor sign writing, in that a paper template is produced and taken to site, which is reliefed onto the pillar.
This is then a guide to enable precise painting of the numbers.
This is also using the same matte finish oil based paint, which is a special mix for sign writing.
It is also using specialist sign writing brushes but this time smaller in scale.
.
.
.
.
The pillar finish is stippled, which can make for more of a task in carrying out such neat precise painting, but if less haste & more focus is used, along with experience and skill, then the suface is no big issue.
Each stroke painted is carefully constructed until pieced together in making each number.

The cushion adds protection when leaning on the railings in order to paint with a steady hand.
This can be a hindrance with London properties, but this overcomes that issue.
The clients were more than pleased with the completed work. Tradtional Signs of London have since had repeat work within the same square in Belgravia at 4 other premises based on the professional finish to this property sign writing.
