Sign writing London is just what Traditional Signs of London offers. Especially for clients that are in the retail sector.

Its now en vouge to have a more rustic but smart branding. the branding often being a san serif typeface, but set on a pastel or natural colour, rather than bright shiny or gawdy like in the days of bright red with white writing. The Asian Bag company of Kompanero are very much promoting the more natural & rustic style. Therefore they had a driftwood look store front fascia, along with a thick, solid rustic wood panel for their projecting/hanging sign.

The visual was given, with a brief to match it. On this occasion there are no images taken of the external production. Sometimes when pressed for time, there just isn’t time to take process images. That was just one of these occasions.

The drawing/layout was produced in studio on paper, to scale for wooden fascia. It was then measured & positioned into place on site. At the companie’s other outlets across the world, the branding on the store fascias tend to be 3D lettering made in perspex & are illuminated. However due to London’s regulations to keep many storefronts traditional as possible, it meant this store had to be hand painted.

The painting was produced using a matte finish & on a rare occasion for a sign writer London, a water based paint. This was due to oil based paint soaking into the rustic untreated wood too easily, where as the water based would not soak in half as much.

The hanging sign was delivered to the studio, so the writing could be hand painted onto both sides. A template was produced on paper for the ideal sizing, which was measured into the centre of the panel. it was then reliefed onto the panel using chalk. This allowed for the sign writing to be added in paint with precision.

Once the signwriting is completed, the hanging sign was delivered to site & hung onto its external bracket. The last section to complete the pjoct was internal signage. A large image of the branding’s logo on one of the feature walls. This was produced with oil based paints as per normal, but still with a matte finish.

The painte was given 2 coats to give a much more quality finish. The coverage being far more opaque with 2 coats. The tape was used to assist with precise lines. The tape was removed once the 2nd layer of paint was applied.
