Sign makers london arent all just vinyl signs, some produce hand painted & gold leaf signs like for this art gallery in Ladbroke Grove.

A new art gallery opening in Ladbroke Grove on a road off of Portobello Road, heading towards the infamous Trellick Tower.

The clients liked the effect that gold leaf brings & the longevity of it once its on the surface. Its a sign of quality & class.

The Clients originally requested the wording have a spacing between the letters of 90mm but also for the entire wording to fit between the measurement of the window to the left of the premises.

It was felt that the spacing would mean that the letters would have to be a lot smaller if the whole wording was to fit within the same space.

It was suggested to them that this would not only reduce visablity but would also reduce the impact the gold’s natural shimmer in the sunlight & night light.

The original thoughts I assume was down to seeing the shop next door having a similar spacing, but their lettering is much larger & spans a lot more of the fascia.

On top of this, having 2 similar looking next to each other would look a little odd.

The pounced layout & a few of the letters gilded.

A 3hr size was used but the weather was so warm, but yet breezy that so was drying after each letter was painted, so the letters were gilded one at a time.

Once the lettering was completed the contrast between the gold & black background made for such a professional & classy look.

The surface was cleaned after the gilding to remove the powder that covers the area to prevent any unwanted gold sticking to areas other than where the size was applied to.

A nice crisp look for their new frontage & just the professional appearance they were after. They were pleased & its the clients who pay & keep the completed work, so thats the most important thing.
